Greek concert pianist ๐——๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜†๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€ has built an international career distinguished by artistic versatility, a deep commitment to Greek music, and a lifelong dedication to performance, chamber music and musical education. Praised by the legendary Greek composer ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐˜€ as โ€œ๐—ฎ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฒ ๐—”๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—บ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐโ€, Mastroyiannis has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist in major concert halls, international festivals and cultural institutions throughout Europe and beyond. Critics and fellow musicians have recognised the breadth of his pianistic technique, his strong sense of rhythm, expressive range and sincerity of musical communication. His international appearances have taken him to such venues as ๐—•๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น in Manchester, the ๐—š๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ธ๐—ฎ ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐˜ ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ด ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ, the ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—”๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฒ๐˜‚๐—บ in Bucharest, the ๐—ฅ๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜‚๐—บ in Prague, the ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ธ๐—ถ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น in Zagreb, the Poznaล„ Philharmonic Hall, the Reduta Concert Hall in Bratislava, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Ankara, the Saidashev State Grand Concert Hall in Kazan and Bulgaria Hall in Sofia. He has also performed at historically significant venues including the Bertramka Mozart Museum in Prague, the Rectorโ€™s Palace in Dubrovnik and the ๐—ข๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—”๐˜๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐˜€ in Athens. Mastroyiannis has appeared in numerous international festivals and has collaborated with orchestras and musicians from many countries. Following a performance at the Montenegrin National Theatre during the International A Tempo Festival, the newspaper Dan described him as a pianist whose artistry could transform even a seemingly simple work into a compelling experience for audiences of all ages, adding that the title โ€œ๐— ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—”๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฒโ€ was fully justified. A central part of Mastroyiannisโ€™ artistic identity is his long-standing commitment to the music of ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐˜€. Their relationship developed into a particularly close artistic connection, and Theodorakis repeatedly expressed his appreciation for Mastroyiannisโ€™ understanding and interpretation of his music. Among the composerโ€™s works for piano and orchestra, Mastroyiannis achieved particular distinction through the ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฃ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ผ, a work that had remained unheard for forty-four years. The concerto was first presented in Finland in 2005 with the Mikkeli City Orchestra, conducted by Swiss maestro Robert Sรฉlitrenny, and was subsequently performed with orchestras in other countries. His dedication to Greek musical culture is also reflected in his recordings. His album ๐—ญ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฏ๐—ฎโ€™๐˜€ ๐——๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ โ€“ ๐—š๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ธ ๐— ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ผ ๐—ฃ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ, released internationally by MSR Classics, received enthusiastic reviews from the international music press. Writing in Fanfare Magazine, Peter Burwasser praised the performances for their โ€œ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒโ€, while other American critics highlighted the sincerity, conviction and communicative power with which Mastroyiannis brought rarely heard works of Greek piano literature to international audiences. Dino Mastroyiannis began his musical studies with ๐—˜๐—น๐˜† ๐—”๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—บ, his first piano teacher and an important early influence. He later graduated from the Athens Conservatory, where he studied with Aliki Vatikioti and received the He continued his artistic development with the internationally renowned Bulgarian pianists and pedagogues ๐—๐˜‚๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ, former students of Heinrich Neuhaus at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. His further studies in solo and chamber music took him to Austria, Germany and the Sion Music Academy in Switzerland. A particularly important influence on his artistic development was his long association with the Brazilian pianist ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฆ๐˜‡๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ป, a former student of Claudio Arrau and Artur Rubinstein. What began with masterclasses in Greece in 1992 developed into an enduring artistic relationship and a deep personal friendship. Under Szidonโ€™s guidance, Mastroyiannis further developed his approach to interpretation, sound, pianistic technique and musical expression. Their collaboration continued for many years in Greece and abroad and remains one of the most important influences on his artistic life. Mastroyiannis has also devoted significant attention to the music of ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜, both as a soloist and chamber musician. He was the only musician from Greece to receive written permission from the Austrian organisation Mozart 2006 to use its official logo for a special concert project devoted to the piano four-hands repertoire. His interpretations of Mozartโ€™s chamber music were warmly received in Italy, where the newspaper Libertร  described his artistic approach as โ€œ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜.โ€ Throughout his career, Dino Mastroyiannis has recorded for numerous radio and television organisations in Europe. His discography also includes a recording of ๐Ÿฐ with the Catanzaro Symphony Orchestra, as well as a live recording of ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜โ€™๐˜€ ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ตรถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐— รผ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป with Austrian baritone Georg Lehner, released by the Italian label Sheva Collection. Alongside his performing career, Mastroyiannis has devoted several decades to As a professor of piano and chamber music at the Volos Conservatory, he has educated hundreds of students, many of whom have received prizes in national and international competitions, developed professional careers and performed in important concert venues internationally. He has served as a juror in international piano competitions and has been invited to give masterclasses in Greece and abroad. His pedagogical work is founded on the close relationship between Mastroyiannis has also played an important role as a cultural organiser and artistic director. In 2001โ€“2002, he founded and served as Artistic Director of the ๐—ฉ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜€ ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐— ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—™๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—น, which presented ten concerts, welcomed approximately two hundred artists, ensembles, choirs and orchestras from many countries, commissioned and presented world premieres, organised masterclasses and produced an extensive archive of audio and video recordings. In 2011, he founded the ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐— ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—™๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—น โ€œ๐—˜๐˜ƒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎโ€ and became its Artistic Director. Developed in collaboration with the Porphyrogenis Foundation, the festival brought together performers, ensembles and composers from Greece and abroad. Through its first seven editions, Evmelia established itself as a significant cultural institution in the region of Thessaly and contributed to the presentation of major works, international artistic collaborations and innovative concert programmes. In 2010, at the height of his concert activity, Mastroyiannis was affected by ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฑ๐˜†๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ, a neurological movement disorder that has ended or severely altered the performing careers of many musicians. Following an intensive period of retraining and artistic re-evaluation, he successfully regained the functional use of his hand with the guidance of Belgian pianist and specialist Laurent Boullet. This experience profoundly broadened his understanding of pianistic movement, technical coordination and the relationship between physical freedom and musical expression. His return to the concert platform was marked by a successful performance of Schubertโ€™s ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ตรถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐— รผ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป with Georg Lehner at the Evmelia Festival in 2014. Since then, he has continued to perform as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist, presenting programmes that reflect his particular affinity with the art of song, opera, Greek music and the great traditions of the piano repertoire. Among the notable projects of his later career are his recital ๐—Ÿโ€™๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐˜‚ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—พ๐˜‚รฉ ๐—ฎ๐˜‚ ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ, inspired by the expressive worlds of opera and Lied; a concert at the Bรถsendorfer Hall in Mozartโ€™s House, Vienna, with soprano Olivera Tiฤeviฤ‡ and baritone Georg Lehner; performances of ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜โ€™๐˜€ ๐—ฃ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ก๐—ผ. ๐Ÿต โ€œ๐—๐—ฒ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฒโ€ with the State Symphony Orchestra of the Moldova Philharmonic; and recital appearances in Istanbul and Ankara.
