Mastroyiannis returned to the International Competition “Ohrid Pearls” as a member of the jury for its 25th edition. During the competition, he presented two Special Prizes established in memory of his parents and also appeared in performance with two works by Mikis Theodorakis.
PRIVATE RECITAL FOR JOHN PSATHAS

Volos, Greece
During a visit by composer John Psathas to Mastroyiannis’ home in Volos, Mastroyiannis gave a private recital at the composer’s request. The performance was dedicated to the memory of his recently departed mother and marked a deeply personal return to performance after a period away from musical activity.

World premiere in Istanbul of Vladimir Titov’s jazz-inspired arrangement Zorba the Greek, written for and dedicated to Dino Mastroyiannis. The performance featured Mastroyiannis in collaboration with Swiss violinist Solvejg Sulamith Wilding.

Composer John Psathas visited Mastroyiannis in Volos with a New Zealand film crew during the filming of View from Olympus, a documentary portrait of his life and music. Mastroyiannis performed Psathas’ Waiting for the Aeroplane in the composer’s presence; the performance was subsequently included in the documentary. (watch an excerpt here).
